Everyone accepts normal children but the art of embracing a child with special abilities with similar zeal is yet to be learned by society at large. With several underlying reasons for a child to be born with Autism Spectrum Disorder, data shows that every 1 in 100 children has autism in India and the stigma around the issue needs to be handled with care and awareness. ‘Understanding Autism begins at a young age, and there is no better place than the classroom and an educational setting to start’. At MothersTouch School, Deoghar, the awareness of autism has been the core of the value-added education system for children, parents, and the teaching faculty. MothersTouch tries to equip every child with the necessary qualities required to begin and face the never-ending race of life and since the inauguration stage, autism awareness and social work related to autism have been an imperative part of the school’s mission.
Aligning my literary endeavors with the social cause, I will be dedicating this book (upcoming) on autism ‘Beyond Spectrum, Positive Parenting’ in association with MothersTouch School’s autism awareness initiative. Through the combined effort, we are hopeful to see a positive change in the mindset of families and society to accept and carefully handle autism.
