How I wish to wake up one day and realize it was all just a nightmare, or, it was just a momentary glimpse from a parallel universe to teach humanity what future we are headed to!
Did we bring this to ourselves? Is it nature’s retribution of the atrocities caused by humanity all this time? We surely seem to have mishandled the beautiful abode that was bestowed upon us. Instead of cherishing the possibilities of this blissful habitat, we turned it into a monochromatic canvas of a doomed era.
Whatever the cause, here we are facing the dreaded COVID times and bearing its unfathomable impact.
Life has drastically changed all over the world over the past few months. A simple act of going to the park, or that of meeting and greeting people, or touching a doorknob, seems to have become a grave penalty now.
Covid-19 has reversed the evolution process altogether. All this time, humanity had successfully transformed from being cave-dwellers to becoming a global-economy. Covid-19 has pushed people back to their shells. Although the pandemic has brought a wave of negative effects and terrible implications, we learned that certain life-lessons hold importance to our existence.
As we say, ‘Tough times are great teachers’, I present here my learnings from the Corona times-
Reflecting on the meaning of life and its purpose
A life that holds within itself all the elements that have created the universe. The value and meaning of which was lost along the way, and in the world that we have created around us. All this while we have been chasing the meaning of life and not living it meaningfully. Most of what we tend to gather in our lifetime is not what’s actually making us happy. We need to change our outlook towards life and its purpose.
How fragile is the world around us!
COVID has made us understand how frangible the world is all around us. Everyone is equally vulnerable. In order to survive, sustain, and emerge through this outer façade, we need to dig deeper within ourselves. Turn towards our inner self and reconnect with the strength it beholds.
Count the blessings
We are so consumed with the ever-changing desires each day that we forget to count our blessings. We must learn to acknowledge, cherish, and be more grateful for all that we have.
Care, Compassion and Connection
The global nature of this pandemic has made us realize we are all connected. Where humanity stands threatened, the act of care, compassion, and connection towards each other is extremely important now and forever.
Attending to the environment is not that tough
A minimalistic approach to consuming the resources that were plentifully provided to us. Striving to leave as little carbon-footprint, is not as difficult as we had imagined. Every little count! Each small contribution to saving the environment is significant, and it is not that difficult to implement in our daily lives.
Exercise and Mental health
While outdoor activities have been restricted, we need to exercise to keep fit, both physically and mentally. Small workout regimes, yoga, and meditation go a long way in making us resilient and fill us with positivity.
‘Hang in there! This too shall pass’
As much as humans have acquired the trait of being self-centered, they cannot live without others, be it family, friends, society, or the whole world. So, just stay strong, keep going, remain optimistic, keep following the new norms, and believe that ‘This too shall pass’. A phrase that has found relevance in the current times and is a prudent reminder that no matter how the serendipity of life has been thrust upon us, it will definitely pass. After all, ‘Change is one constant in the Universe’.

Yes. Pandemic has taught us many things in a hard way. Maybe it’s a message from Mother Nature and God to slow down and look around, cherish our surroundings and value the people we have in our life.
