In these times of worldwide chaos, ‘Heroes of Kindness’ by Dr. Roshan brings an order of ‘Hope’ and ‘Kindness’ to rekindle our spirits to believe in humanity and to maintain that ‘The world is not a bad place’.

About the Author

A man who is driven by ‘Kindness’, Dr. Roshan Radhakrishnan wears multiple capes to spread warmth to people whether through relieving pain and suffering as an anesthesiologist or through his healing words as a writer and blogger from one of India’s longest-running consistent blogs, Godyears.net. He has been writing for 15 years and he is the winner of the ‘Best Blog in India for Creative Writing’ and the ‘Best Blog from Kerala’.

Dr. Roshan Radhakrishnan is the only Indian to have won first place in the two seasons of Write India, India’s largest Literary contest, and he has also secured a winner’s place in the top five, in season 3 of the contest. His articles are constantly featured in the mainstream media like BBC, NDTV, Indian Express, Huffington Post and international medical journals, etc., and 25 of his short stories have found their way into popular anthologies.

The Book

Fifty acts of kindness by everyday real-life people from all over the world are presented in the compilation of twenty-seven chapters. The title of each chapter is self-explanatory and provides a glimpse of what is coming. These stories have been featured in news articles across the globe, and speak about the heroism drawn from the simple acts of every day by common people who attain heroism by a plain measure of growing beyond their own needs and caring for someone else.

Whether it is a town that rallies to help a 95-year-old woman who was conned out of her life savings or a man who turned his own darkness into light for many people. A simple hug from a man consoles the longing hearts of abandoned children just because they believe differently. Then there are quick-thinking and acting-on-the-spur-of-the-moment doctors who save a person’s life while on a flight. An Indian store owner in a foreign land helps revive a teenager’s life by a simple act of right decision at the right time. A passenger who helps a struggling Uber driver to complete her education.

There are stories from our land, India, from the current times of Corona scare, that bring some respite from the harshness all around and restore our faith in humanity.

Concluding Thoughts

All the stories in the book have just one thing in common- ‘An act of kindness’ that makes these simple daily actions of regular people heroic.

As Dr. Roshan says “Why hold onto burning coal when you have diamonds around you”, so, delve into the simple acts of kindness from everyday living, in ’Heroes of Kindness’, and inspire yourself to find the hero within you.

I had always been waiting for the new kindness story every day during the A to Z challenge. Some of the stories brought tears to my eyes while some gave me goosebumps. Really thankful to Dr. Roshan for introducing these real-life heroes to society and keeping the trust in humanity alive.
